The skill development initiative of ITShastra aims to take ahead the Prime Ministers dream of providing vocational training to unemployed young individuals for acquiring productive expertise to get employment. Keeping in mind the fact that many students depart or are forced to quit education, these students do not get any degree or certificates to continue any course in future. However there is a major requirement of skilled workers throughout the country.

Bank of Baroda in association with ITShastra organized the "Baroda swarojgar Vikas"

Importance of "Skilled India" :
The Prime Minister wants to see that the youth benefits at the grass root-level from the skill development programmes of the government. The emphasis is to skill the youths in such a way so that they get employment and also improve entrepreneurship. According to the Government of India, Skill India won't be just a programme but a movement. Here, youth who are jobless, college and school dropouts, along with the educated ones, from rural and urban areas, all will be given value addition. The idea is to raise confidence, improve productivity and give direction through proper skill development. Skill development will enable the youths to get blue-collar jobs. Development of skills, at an young age, right at the school level, is very essential to channelize them for proper job opportunities. There should be a balanced growth in all the sectors and all jobs should be given equal importance. Every job aspirant would be given training in soft skills to lead a proper and decent life. Skill development would reach the rural and remote areas also. Corporate educational institutions, non-government organizations, Government, academic institutions, and society would help in the development of skills of the youths so that better results are achieved in the shortest time possible.

ITShastra's Skill Development Training :
As a part of the skill development initiative undertaken with the Govt of India, ITShastra in association with Bank of Baroda organized a "Tailoring Training Workshop" for 29 women from a remote village of Kawant in Gujarat. The candidates were selected for this course after a thorough Community Mobilization Drive. These women were selected after a thorough checking of their valid documents. ITShastra- Baroda Swarojgar Vikas was an initiative to make these poor women independent and enable them to earn a respectable livelihood.

Impact of the Training on the candidates and their families :
Most of the candidates selected for this program falls under the poverty line. Majority of them have not been to school and some who were lucky to start education left it behind for financial reasons. These women cannot afford any formal or vocational training available in the market. The "Tailoring course" provided them with the much required platform. On the completion of the course the women were assisted by ITShastra for jobs in various organizations. Some of them even started working on their own by stitching clothes on orders received from the factories.
The women are now independent and can take charge of their own lives and their families. A life of respect and financial independence awaits them.

ITShastra was instrumental in providing job assistance to each and every student. During their course at Kawant, the women were prepared for the day when they will finish the course and start working. To do this successfully they need to develop the skills and qualifications that employers are looking for. ITShastra provided free, impartial career information, advice and guidance to all its successful women. ITshastra helps the beneficiaries in tapping the bright career opportunities that are available in the respective fields. After the successful completion of the Tailoring course Most of the beneficiaries were placed in "Creative Design Company" located in Baroda.
